The Ackerman Institute for the Family
The Ackerman Institute provides couples and family therapy, helping families with problems including, but not limited to, school difficulties, child and adolescent problems, marital issues, divorce, bereavement, learning disabilities, conflictual family relationships, child abuse and neglect, and chronic medical illnesses including AIDS. Families from all boroughs of New York City and from the larger tri-state are welcome. Fees are on a sliding scale based on family income. Ackerman is an in-network provider for a wide range of insurances. Medicaid is accepted. ​

Anti-Violence Project
New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) provides free and confidential assistance to thousands of LGBTQ and HIV-affected people across New York city each year through their 24-hour bilingual hotline, counseling, support groups, legal representation, and individual advocacy. AVP helps survivors of violence and allies become advocates for safety through participation in community education and outreach, development of organizing campaigns, and the creation and support of city, state and national coalitions to address LGBTQ and HIV-affected violence. ​

Apicha Community Health Center
​​Apicha Community Health Center's mission is to increase access to healthcare and supportive services for underserved and vulnerable populations living in NYC. Bridging Access to Care
Bridging Access to Care (formerly known as Brooklyn AIDS Task Force) was the first HIV/AIDS organization in Brooklyn. Their mission is to provide health care and supportive services to help individuals living with HIV, living with mental health conditi0ns, substance users, seeking healthier lifestyles, and healthier families. ​

Brooklyn Center for Psychotherapy & New Directions
The Brooklyn Center for Psychotherapy offers both short and long-term treatment options. Their services include individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, and substance abuse counseling. They also offer New Directions, an outpatient chemical dependency treatment program.

Community Counseling and Mediation
Community Counseling and Mediation (CCM) works to improve the lives of at-risk children and families through innovative behavioral health, supportive housing, education, and youth services. Community Healthcare Network (CHN) is a not-for-profit organization that provides access to affordable, culturally-competent and comprehensive community-based primary care, mental health, and social services for diverse populations in underserved communities throughout New York City. ​

Comprehensive Counseling LCSWS
​Provides psychotherapy services for children, adults, families, and couples, specializing in areas such as mod disorders, substance use, marital difficulties, and behavioral issues.
Note: This is a private practice setting that accepts most insurances but not Medicaid or Medicare; a co-pay should be expected.

The Door
The Door provides a wide range of services to NYC youth, including reproductive health care and education, mental health counseling and crisis assistance, legal assistance, GED and ESOL classes, tutoring and homework help, college preparation services, career development, job training and placement, supportive housing, sports and recreational activities, arts, and nutritious meals - all for free and completely confidentially. In addition to health, legal, education, counseling and career services, The Door provides a wide range of programs and services geared towards LGBTQ members.

Health Outreach To Teens (HOTT)
​Health Outreach To Teens (HOTT) is a welcoming, non-judgmental, confidential program designed specifically to meet the medical and mental health needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning adolescents and young adults ages 13-24, as well as homeless youth, runaways, sex workers, squatters, and other street-oriented youth. These services are offered both at a youth-only medical suite at Callen-Lorde, and on HOTT's medical van, which travels to areas throughout Manhattan in the afternoons and evenings where youth are known to hang out. All of HOTT's services are provided free of charge or at low cost (insurance is also accepted).

Hispanic AIDS Forum
​The Hispanic AIDS Forum's (HAF) mission is to improve health outcomes for Latinos in New York City who are affected by HIV and other chronic illnesses. They offer free HIV testing; emotional support counseling and support groups or gay and bisexual Latino men; services for HIV-positive Latinos, such as help managing medical care and treatment, financial assistance with rent payments, plus health education and wellness services; Latino youth leadership training; and services for transgender women.

Housing Works Community Healthcare
Housing Works Community Healthcare fosters good health and positive social change through empowerment, innovation, and collaboration. They provide high-quality integrated medical care and other essentials that improve individual and overall community well-being. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), they are able to provide more affordable care to underserved populations.
