B.A., Psychology (Honors) & Sociology, University of Texas at Austin
Beeta joined our team as a Research Assistant in November 2020. As an undergraduate, she worked as a research assistant at the behavioral genetics lab at UT Austin, where she studied sexual risk-taking behavior among adolescents. Afterwards, she worked for several years as an advocate at AFSSA, where she provided case management to migrant survivors of sexual violence and served on Austin’s taskforce to improve services for marginalized survivors of assault. As a member of the lab, Beeta works with participants and delivers interventions developed by the Relationship Health Research Team. She is interested in better understanding how folks in partnerships communicate about sex and how this information can be leveraged to investigate broad sociological trends surrounding sexual violence and prevention efforts. Beeta plans on continuing her analysis of gender-based violence trends in sociology PhD programs.
